What are the differences between some of the top tinted moisturizers on the market? I chose 3 popular brands, designed for all skin types and put them to the test! Longevity, Coverage, Skin Sensitivity, Price-
DIOR: 5 stars ★★★★★ The first tinted moisturizer I tried was the Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth Skin Tint SPF 20 in shade #1. There are only 3 shades in this range. I purchased this from Sephora for $39 for 1.7 Oz. When I got home, I cleansed my skin of makeup and applied the foundation. My initial reaction to this was the smell. It doesn’t have a sunscreen smell, but there is definitely something that bothered me about it. Some people may find it appealing. I don’t, but it is something I can look over.
The application was very easy. The texture is very slick and smooth, so a little bit goes a long way. The coverage for this brand was great. It covered my skin flaws, evened out skintone with less product, and is light to medium coverage. The initial finish is very luminous. However; this shine does fade a bit when it sets (within 30 minutes or so) after applying to the skin. If set with powder, the foundation last 4-6 hours. If worn alone with no other products it last a poor 2 – 4 hours.
My skin did not break out using this product. I totally expected it to, and am pleasantly surprised. Overall, I really like this product and would definely repurchase.
Laura Mercier Tinted Mouisturiser: 4 Stars ★★★★ I purchased Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in the shade Nude during the Christmas holidays at Sephora in a gift set. There are 10 shades in all for this range making it much more appealing to the masses.
I spent $42 and for 1.5 Oz. This tinted moistizer has no strong fragrance which was very welcoming. When I applied it to my skin I noticed 3 things. It is very comfortable on, great at moisturizing and it sets extremely fast. You’ve got to work swiftly with your hands or brush because you will definitely have streaks. It is a quite shear coverage and would be great for someone in a hurry. It does counteract redness and improves overall appearance.
This also does not break me out but unfortunately wears off within about 4 hours, even after powdering. This product would be perfect for new Moms that are looking for quick beauty and easy beauty. It does not cover blemishes so concealer is a must.
Lancome: 3 Stars ★★★: Last but not least is the Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital Teinte’ SPF 30 in the shade Bisque. It comes in 4 shades and was purchased on the Lancome-USA website.
I spent $45 for 1.7 Oz. This was the most expensive of the 3 foundations. The product has a slight fragrance but like Laura Mercier, is not strong at all. The Lancome tinted moisturizer is different than the other 2. The consistency is more of a thick whipped cream. It provids a decent coverage (light to medium) but buildable. Blending was very easy and the moisturizer/foundation ratio was fantastic. It covers skin imperfections, evens out skin tone, and feels great on the skin. It also lasted the longest if applied alone with an overall longevity of approximately 5-7 hours. I was really impressed!
After wearing this for 1 day I did have several breakouts. I’m guessing maybe the higher concentration of SPF was the tipping point. For that reason only I’ve got to return it. 🙁
