Beauty products can be extremely expensive. So, what are people to do when they want to look their best, but can’t afford the high prices of high-end cosmetics? I’ve listed some great products to try that are budget friendly and guaranteed to make you look great. If you want to learn more, continue reading.
Foundation
This can be one of the most expensive beauty products you can buy, with some brands charging $100 or more per ounce. Estee Lauder Double Wear is the highest coverage for $37, Dior Tinted Moisturizer is $45, and the Smashbox BB Cream is $39. Lately, even drugstore foundations are creeping up in price. Instead of shelling out top dollar for foundations, try using concealers.
Companies actually dilute their concealers to make the foundation, bb cream, and tinted moisturizer. So, not only are you saving money by using concealer, you’re also getting more potency. If the concealer is too much coverage, simply mix it with your favorite moisturizer. The more moisturizer, the thinner the consistency. Each one of these drugstore concealers is $10 or less and if diluted will be equal or greater in quantity than it’s counterparts.
Foundation Savings = roughly $25
Blush and Lipstick
An easy way to keep costs down is to multi-task your products. Instead of spending $44 for 1 Dior blush, how about $1.99 for a Wet n’ Wild lipstick that can be used as both?
Wet n’ Wild Lipsticks have come a long way since their heyday and the quality couldn’t be better. They are creamy and pigmented on the lips AND can be blended out on the cheeks perfectly. The color selection is also a plus, so there’s a shade to match every skin tone.
Blush and Lipstick Savings = $42
Eyeshadow
On the subject of Wet n’ Wild (I’m not affiliated, I swear) is their eyeshadows. I was able to dupe, or closely dupe, every shade of the $4 Wet n’ Wild Comfort Zone Palette with a MAC eyeshadow. MAC shadows run $16 each in the pot or $10 each in the pan. The Wet n’ Wild shadows are buttery, pigmented, and in some shades better quality than MAC.
Eyeshadow Savings = $76
Highlighter
I just wrote about the Best Highlighters on the Market and I stand by that post. You can’t get better highlighters than Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors. It’s $41 for full size, but fantastic quality. However, on a budget there’s another product that can give you a beautiful glow. Can you guess what it is?
Yep, it’s the Wet n’ Wild Comfort Zone Palette again! The 2 lightest shades are SO great as a highlighter! Like I mentioned earlier – multi-tasking saves $$$.
Highlighter Savings = $37
Eyeliner
There are great drugstore eyeliners out there, so if you find one pick it up. However, if you find yourself needing an eyeliner and can’t afford it, try this trick…
An angled brush with a dab of mascara is a great substitute for eyeliner. It’s not terribly pigmented, but you can create a killer smokey eye.
Eyeliner Savings = $25
Setting Powder
They make your foundation look flawless but can be very expensive. The Makeup Forever HD Powder is $34, but this fear not! $5.99 ELF HD Powder is an exact dupe.
Grand Total Savings = $234

Daily Nuggets:
1. I really enjoyed researching and writing this post. It was fun going through all of my makeup looking for things that would take the place of another product. It was enjoyable playing with all the colors and trying to create dupes. Yay for makeup!
2. My daughter has this song stuck in my head. It is hilarious and infuriating all at the same time.
3. I’m currently eating something I shouldn’t. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream!
4. The weather here in Louisiana has been so nasty, cold, and dreary. I can’t wait for sunshine again!
5. My daughters and I at a 4-H fair a few years ago. This was such a great day. I had to share.
I really enjoyed reading this post! The concealer/foundation information was really interesting as I tend not to use too much foundation – I’m definitely going to try it out! The Rimmel Stay Matte powder is another very reasonable option for setting powder, also I’ve just discovered the Nyx lip glosses (they’re not too easy to find here in Ireland) and they are as good as their expensive counterparts if not better. I’ll be having a long browse around your site – thanks! ♡
Thanks so much! I will check the powder and glosses out soon! 🙂 <3
