I had the idea to start making my own bows for Christmas gifts this year and wanted to share. 🙂 It’s really fun, doesn’t take much time, and makes the gift super special because you are custom making it for each individual. If you would like to find out the easy step-by-step, then see below!
Ok, let’s start off with the supplies you will need.
2. Hot glue gun
3. Artificial flowers. The price depends on where you purchase them from. I bought mine at Wal-Mart and they cost about $3.50 per bouquet. Buying an assortment really helps because each gift will look differently and custom to your wrapping paper. You can get gorgeous flowers at your local craft stores like, Hobby Lobby or Michaels, and go completely extravagant.
These pieces are taken off of 3 different bouquets. The photos below are 2 of them.
Cut the leaves from the stem using scissors. Some brands are made with wire and you will need wire cutters (or really tough scissors).
Using your hot glue gun, arrange the leaves onto the box. Try using an odd number of leaves. I don’t know why, but it just looks more appealing.
Add decorative accents. I added pine needles.
Now you can add your flower. Choose a flower in the same color family so the gift looks cohesive.
The cheaper brands sometimes need some extra petals. You can snip a petal from the bouquet to add to it.
Now you can add whatever details you want. Glue more ribbon underneath, glue on berries, add some pine cones and more pine needles. You can also spray the flower with pine scent. Have fun with it!
