Thou know’st ’tis common—all that lives must die, Passing through nature to eternity. – William Shakespeare
This is really a shame. Our Ascension Parish community can do better! This is what I look at every day during my morning workout. The land across the way is East Baton Rouge Parish (Hoo Shoo Too Rd.)
Bayou Manchac is such a beautiful and historic body of water. Books are written about this bayou and its importance.
- “Winding through Time: The Forgotten History and Present Day Peril of Bayou Manchac” by Mary Ann Sternberg
- “Bayou Manchac and it’s People” by Leroy E. Willie
- “Bayou Underground: Tracing the Mythical Roots of American Popular Music” by Dave Thompson
- “Manchac Swamp: Louisiana’s Undiscovered Wilderness” by Julia Sims and John Randolph Kemp
It seems now people have been using it as a garbage disposal. This is not only dangerous for the wildlife and environment but also for boaters passing through this winding bayou. Please contact Tommy Martinez – our Ascension Parish President.
